Coole Park
Activities Near Oranmore Lodge Hotel
Follow the trails through this beautiful Nature Reserve and learn about Lady Gregory, dramatist & co-founder of the Abbey Theatre.
Coole Park was the centre of the Irish Literary Revival in the early 20th century. W.B. Yeats, George Bernard Shaw, John Millington Synge and Sean O’ Casey all came to experience its magic. They and many others carved their initials on the Autograph Tree, an old Copper beech still standing in the walled garden today.
You are invited to investigate the serenity of this magical location and its unique landscape. Although the home of Lady Gregory, no longer exists on-site, guests can still explore the many kilometres of nature trails taking in the woods, river, turlough, bare limestone and the famous Coole Lake.
We highly recommend a day trip to this wonderful reserve, where you will see the best of nature and wildlife in one place. When the exploring has come to a standstill, you can grab a cup of tea in the Coole Park Tearooms to unwind and recollect on your adventures.
Opening Times: Summer 8:00am – 7:30pm | Winter 8:00am – 6:00pm
