Galway Aboo Festival 2024
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the October bank holiday weekend, the city’s medieval streets will host many fun and free events. The most popular event of the festival is the Macnas Parade which will bring over 70,000 people to the streets on Sunday 27th October. The parade will include signature Macnas giant creations and sculptural images, pyrotechnics, bespoke costumes, and epic performances to live and original music.
Galway Pumpkin Patch
Galway Pumpkin Patch will open during the week before October Bank Holiday Weekend. Adults and children can go along for a fun Halloween-themed day out, which has a lot more than just pumpkin picking. You’ll find there will be lots of decorations, fancy dress, games, and face painting. Tea, coffee and spooky treats will also be available on site between 10am and 4.30pm. Tickets are required for entry. All family tickets include either one huge pumpkin or a variety of tiny pumpkins. The exit/entry point also serves as a store selling additional pumpkins.
Halloween Orienteering at Wildlands
Wildlands adventure centre will host spooky Halloween orienteering sessions for those aged 4 and up this October. Explore the wild woodlands and magical fairy trail, keeping your eyes peeled for the troll bridge, fairy houses, the Moycullen mummy, Wicked Witch of Wildlands and more. The activity is complimentary for ticket holders of a Wildlands’ activity and their parents. €5 for non-ticket holders.
Halloween at Brigits Garden
Visit Brigits Garden this Halloween and enjoy a Spooky Treasure Hunt. This outdoor treasure hunt that can be done at any time over the midterm period as an additional activity for visiting families. The Spooky Treasure Hunt will get you into the Halloween spirit and you are welcome to come in costume. Are you brave enough for the mummy in the cronóg and the coffin in the Stone Chamber? Collect the clues and help to get rid of the spell cast on the Gardens by the nasty Púca.
Spooky Fest at Loughwell Farm Park
Bring the family to Spooky Fest at Loughwell Farm Park, the only interactive Halloween experience for kids in the West of Ireland. The Spooky Fest family friendly horror experience which is expected to open between 11am and 4pm from Saturday to Monday of the October bank holiday weekend with the main farm park attraction open as usual every day of the school midterm break. Meet the Wonky Witches Winnie & Wanda and join them having a fun time making spells and looking for their broomsticks in their very own haunted house. Kids can explore the spooky house with the witches looking through the rooms for ingredients for magic potions with lots of excitement along the way.
